Who We Are
Primrose Fiber Studio was created in the 1-bedroom apartment of a college student who just wanted to pick up a new hobby. Similar to most crochet artists to date, I saw some cute plushies and cardigans on Instagram and TikTok and thought.. “I can do that.. right?” After some social media rabbit-hole-ing, some “quick” trips to my local Joanns, and a lengthy crochet lesson from one of my closest friends, I was in love.
About the Creator
My name is Alison :) and I kinda run it all here. I’ve been creating my entire life, and ran a sewing business before starting Primrose Fiber Studio in 2023, at the age of 21. I recently graduated with a degree in Sustainable Environmental Design and now work full time as a residential Construction Project Manager here in my hometown of San Francisco, CA. I know these career paths might not all add up, but all I know is I get to use my creativity 24/7, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
The Brand
‘Primrose’ was indeed inspired by an early 2000’s novel series, but not the one you’re thinking of.. For one odd reason or another, Madonna’s “The English Roses” book series has stuck with me since I was a little girl. I’m thinking it was something about Jeffrey Fulvimari’s striking art style that inspired some creative, girly, innocence that never quite left me. ‘Primrose Doll Studios’ was used as my first business name, and it’s become a sort of identity for me at this point <3
Our color palette and design all stem from my childhood love of this series and aesthetic, just a twinge more sophisticated. You’ll see a mix of neutrals and “floral-inspired” colors in every pattern we release and in every page of this site. I’d like to also thank @agingerly on Instagram for our beautiful commissioned logo. She embodied our 'primrose’ theme brilliantly, made me look all cute and dreamy, and even incorporated my silly little crochet hook; Primrose Fiber Studio wouldn’t be the same without her!
